I am helping to organize the mentor program for Affiliate Summit Vegas 2009

If you are new to Affiliate Summit and would like a little helping hand figuring out how to make the most of the event, sign up for the mentor program. It's a terrific way to get a jump start on all the options the event has to offer.

Hi Jen!

Yes, how is the sign up going?

Now, my memory is failing me, when we ran into each other at the airport did you twist my arm and make me agree to do this again????

I may have some friends and family out this year joining me at summit and not sure yet if I will be able to have the extra time this deserves. I'll check back with you in few weeks to see if you are still in need of mentors. Let's just say you can count on me if you really need me.

For those of you who have not done this, it is rewarding for both the mentor and the new attendee. I highly recommend it and plan to participate whenever I can.

Wow where did the month go? Hope everyone's Thanksgiving was grand!

Sign ups are going great! I am very excited to see all of the new people so eager to get involved. I could always use a few more mentors, for anyone on the fence, I'd love to have you participate!

I've started a group at the Affiliate Summit networking site so all those participating in the program can mingle online. If you are interested in being a virtual mentor, and helping answer questions or give advice the group area, send me an email so I can get you the details... its an invite only group.

I've also been working on coordinating an official meet-up so everyone involved can get together and mingle a little. I'm looking forward to meeting the whole group!


Trisha I know the signup deadline is December 28th, however, if you could hop on that deciding and come to the fun side of the yard before Santa shows up, that will give you more time to try to connect before the event, instead of the week of. just a thought.

Ron, no I didn't twist your arm at the airport. But I can say I did, if that helps. I usually try to bribe with brownies instead though.

I'm interested in the mentoring program but have a question... the signup page says something about a 15 minute meeting and the mentoree (me) buying the meal for the mentor.

Am I understanding that the mentors are one on one then or are they going to have a couple of us to mentor so there are multiple people they are trying to arrange to have meals with...

and question 2 -- with the platinum ticket, breakfasts and lunches are all included so does that mean that we can't meet during that time or how does that work if that is the best time to meet??

Maybe you could expound on what a mentor does? I've been to lots of tradeshows in general and understand working booths and going to classes... is there more to this than meets the eye? .

Look forward to any enlightenment anyone can provide...

Hi,

1. mentors are only being assigned with one contact at this time. if we run short on mentors I suppose there might be a few new comers assigned to a single mentor...

2. the meal is more of a suggestion as a way to say thank you as it is a free program yet it's important those requesting assistant realize mentors are generously donating their time and and happy to help.

so it's not as much about meeting for a meal, as it is.. please consider/ plan on taking your mentor for a meal to show you appreciate their time and effort.

-- as far as what does this program offer - it is to help those that are new to this specific event get a little guidance with figuring out which directions to go and where to get started with networking, etc. as in this industry there are a number of areas one might get involved and the Affiliate Summit accommodates many of those directions and options and for some, it is easy to get lost in the choices and miss great opportunities.

As of right now we are up to 75 participants in the mentor program and growing every day! That's some good progress I say.

However, We are a little short on mentors at the moment, so if you have been to affiliate summit before and are feeling generous, I'd love to have you sign up and help out a new comer to the event.

It's free and painless and a pretty darn fun group if I can say so myself

I just signed up as a mentor (thanks for the reminder). Happy to help with his great cause. Thank you for your leadership and coordnation of this effort!!!

By the way, if any mentorees are staying after the summit, I'll be at the Rio through the 16th and although summit will be over, I might be available to meet and discuss various aspects of affiliate marketing. I don't claim to be an expert at anything particular, but I do have over 8 years experience in the business and have always found helping others a rewarding experience. Let me know if you are staying and I'll send you contact information while I am there.

I do not mean to take away from any assigned mentoring during the summit, this would be for anyone staying after the summit who would just like to get together and chat about some aspect of affiliate marketing.
